The Golf Mk1 Convertible brought the practical, boxy design of the first Golf into the open air. Introduced in 1979 and produced by coachbuilder Karmann, it became one of the most successful convertibles of its time, with production continuing until 1993. A curious detail is that they never created a true Mk2 Convertible—the Mk1-based cabriolet continued through the entire Mk2 era.
