The Little Car That Outlived an Empire
The Trabant was born in East Germany in 1957 and, remarkably, barely changed until production ended in 1991 — the same year the USSR collapsed. Built with a two-stroke engine and a body made of Duroplast (a composite of cotton fibers and resin), it was more a piece of social history than a car. When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, thousands of Trabants flooded into West Germany. Today it's a beloved symbol of resilience, irony, and nostalgia. Our brick Trabi is tiny, charming, and utterly iconic.
